By now just about everyone has heard about mindfulness and all the wonderful benefits it has to offer. However, knowing something is good for us and actually making it a part of our life is two very different things. The way to get the most out of mindfulness is to create a habit. By practising everyday it becomes much more easy and you will see the benefits quickly. It can be difficult to start this new habit and quiet the mind, but after a few weeks you will really start to notice the difference and it will be easier to focus and bring calm into your life.

One of the things that really puts people off is trying to find enough time each day to practise mindfulness. However, what a lot of people don't realise is that you can benefit with just a few minutes a day. You don't need any equipment or to go anywhere, you just need a couple of minutes of peace and quiet to clear your mind.

Yoga is all about doing no harm. For some people this means helping other people, for others it means eating a strictly vegan diet. What this also means is looking after yourself. This is vital and mindfulness enables us to do this by giving us permission to spend a little time on ourselves without worrying about anything else.

There are many forms of mindfulness, but all of them focus on bringing peace to ourselves and allowing us to get to know ourselves a little better. By sitting for a few minutes during our daily practise, we can calm our breathing, calm our thoughts and find quiet strength to enable us to get on with the rest of our day.
